As you know, FPS games are mainly known for multiplayer, and that will be the good 65% or more focus on AWOL. We will have a story mode, but Ive been brainstorming Multiplayer ideas all day. So lets get into weapon types and classes.
Weapon Classes:
Assault Rifles
SMG
LMG
Sniper
Launchers
Launchers are primarys because, in any CoD game ive ever played, the launcher secondaries are extremely ridiculous. Theyre way too OP, and make it to unbalanced. Having the launcher as a primary, you will only have pistol, machine pistols, etc. as a secondary. You also probably noticed shotguns are not a primary, and heres my reason. Shotgun secondaries balance alot of things out. It gives Airsupport a chance to do something, but can save you if you get in a tight situation. They will NOT be available with launchers though. If possible, we might limit shotguns to certain maps. Because having a shotty on a wide open map is ridiculous. Now heres my secondary ideas:
Machine Pistol
Pistol
Shotguns
Specials.
Yes I know, thats literally every FPS game's secondary layout, but it makes sense. Now shotguns and specials will not be available with launchers, because it would be too overpowered. In the machine pistol category, im talking about Glock 18, PP-2000, Skorpion, etc. Machine pistols are great for close maps, given the decent damage at a medium range. But the specials might give you something to consider. The first one being, a crossbow. Yes I know, "BlackOps did that too" But this one wont be that explosive crap. Im talking straight up crossbow, to use for sniping quietly on medium maps. This will have attachments too, such as a scope, tenser bow string, more arrows, etc. The other special would be a.... sword? Yep. Close range maps only though, but going around ramboing with a sword would be freaking awesome. Up close and face to face, it takes 2-3 hits to kill, and from the back it takes one. So it will be more of an assasin thing. Granted, these are still ideas, and I have no idea if they will even be implemented.
Now its time for perks. I would personally want perk classes, instead of individual perk setups. I say that, because the people who play MW2 or BlackOps will tell you, they have OMA and Danger close, and Ghost and Ninja. Its ridiculous. Im thinking of something like MW3 is sort of doing. Giving you certain classes to use. Heres some perk ideas:
SpeedLoader: Fast reloading, quick ADS time
Assasin: Silent footsteps, more resistent to fall damage, faster sprinting.
Decathlete: Sprint for longer distances, longer melee distance.
Jammer: Jams enemy radar, delay booby trap triggers.
Heavyweight: Stronger gun melee, can take more bullet damage, but you give up fast sprinting.
FreeRunner: Gives you the ability to avoid obstacles, and jump higher
Hawkeye: Ability to zoom in farther with ADS, Steadier aiming and hipfire.
There will probably be more perks, but thats a good display of what im talking about here. Each perk has its up and downs, and you will have to give up other abilities for one.You cant have your cake and eat it too is what Im saying. None of these will give anyone an extreme advantage, because they all have their holes. They will hopefully be seperated into different class selections, which you unlock with XP and ranks.
Im also toiling with the idea of gun perks, but I dont know about that. There will be no such thing as stopping power, or any perk that enhances bullet damage. All guns will be just as powerful as anyone elses.
Now heres my final point: Game Modes
I see the game modes as being this simple
Deathmatch
Ground War
Assault
Survivor
and Domination
Anyone whos played any FPS games knows what these basically mean, except I made a few changes. Ground War is an intense, long match with a defending and attacking team. Defenders get powerful weapons, and must defend a tall structure, or an important area. Attackers will have rush-friendly weapons, and the ability to have launchers (to take out those pesky campers) In this gamemode, each team will have specified classes to choose from, to prevent any unbalanced, OP setups.
Now Assault is a new thing sort of. Its basically a team deathmatch with lives and no medic classes. Forces players to play more objectively, and defend certain areas. This will be a HQ kind of gamemode, where certain points will pop up on the maps. The classes will be free, so they can be custom.
Survivor is basically a fancy term for free-for-all, with custom classes, and certain perk advantages. The longer you survive, the higher your "momentum" increases. Momentum is a good way of saying "killstreak." Its something that, over time, will give you support or new perks toward your weapons. Such as, get 6 kills and stay alive, you get a support missile. You call in the coordinates, and a small collection of missiles is launched there. Thats just an example. If you can go the whole match without dying, you will unlock higher perks faster. Such as: Your a rank 22, Assasin is.. err. rank 28. If you go the whole match without dying, you get wildcards. You pick one randomly, and it will be a perk, gun, or killstreak. Say you got the perk, so you just unlocked Assasin 6 ranks earlier.
So, Im really looking forward to getting to this stage of development, but right now were still doing basics. This is just a possibility of what might come very soon. Hopefully, we can get a storyline running pretty soon, or at least, and idea of one. Thank you for reading, more to come.
